SAFE – Loving our neighbors as ourselves while protecting the most vulnerable among us.
RESPECTFUL – Honoring authorities while obeying God in pursuing our mission.
INTENTIONAL – Developing a tiered approach to returning to a full schedule without undue risk to the people of Magnolia Church.
FLEXIBLE – Adapting quickly to changes in circumstances, guidelines, and community needs.

We understand we have those who think it is too soon to return to in-person gatherings and those who think it should have been done long ago. Our plan seeks to regather in such a way that we protect the vulnerable while providing a quality schedule for services. This will minister to our congregation while bringing hope to our community and beyond. We’ll continue to provide an online experience for Worship Services and Life Groups for those who are not ready or able to return to in-person gatherings. It’s important we provide a guilt-free way for people to choose which experience best suits their individual situation. We will continue to explore ways to offer digitally what previously was only delivered in person.

Our goal is to go beyond CDC recommendations for cleaning and sanitizing our facilities. We will continue to require physical distancing and face coverings as recommended. We will make every attempt to ensure that we are moving forward in the safest manner possible to protect the members and attenders of Magnolia Church. With all that in mind, we are in the process of regathering with a three-tiered approach.

We are currently in Tier 1 and plan to enter Tier 2 shortly after Riverside Unified School District moves to their next phase of in-person instruction.

TIER 1: Worship Services Only + Life Groups at Various Times

  • Vulnerable populations are encouraged to stay home during Tier 1. Online services will continue to be provided each week.
  • Service length will be shorter than pre-COVID-19 in-person worship services. The time between services may be longer to provide for adequate sanitizing before the next service. Previous service times will likely be adjusted.
  • All services will require RSVP before attendance. People without internet access may RSVP by calling the church office.
  • All worship service attenders will be required to wear a face covering. Babies and children under age two should not wear face coverings, in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Please watch online from home if…

  • You or a member of your household has tested positive for COVID-19 and has yet been cleared by the Public Health Department.
  • You or a member of your household has had a fever within the last 48 hours.
  • You or a member of your household has displayed COVID-19 symptoms within the last 48 hours.

Do I have to RSVP to attend services?

We’re asking all who will be attending the in-person service, to RSVP in advance each week at magonline.com/what-to-expect. The RSVP system helps us maintain services within our capacity limits, notify those in attendance if a service attender later tests positive for COVID-19, and to pre-print check-in nametags for kids once we are able to resume in-person Magnolia Kids ministries.

What should I expect when I arrive at in-person services in the buildings?

You will enter through one of our entry points where your household will walk through a brief screening process to enter the buildings. You’ll be asked if anyone in your household has been sick in the past 48 hours and your temperature will be taken. Our ushers will help you find a seat as we load the room starting with the front first. Seating will be arranged so that 6-foot physical distance is maintained between households. Face coverings will be required to attend services and we will have them available for any who need one.

Giving boxes will be available for check or cash offerings. An iPad giving kiosk will also be available and will be wiped down between uses. We strongly encourage you to give at magonline.com/give which is always available and can be set up with recurring donations.

There will be a digital bulletin available for your phone and printable message notes will be emailed ahead of the service each week instead of physical handouts or bulletins.

What safety precautions are being taken?

We are asking all who attend to observe physical distancing from others. We know you can’t wait to get back and hug people, but at this time we respectfully ask that you maintain at least 6-foot distance from other households.

Our facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each service as well as spot-checked during the services. Drinking fountains will initially be shut off. There will be hand sanitizer locations throughout our church campus.

What should families with kids know?

Kids are welcome to attend the service with their families. There will be no Magnolia Kids programs during Tier 1. We will provide downloadable resources each week for kids to engage with during the service. Our online content from Magnolia Kids will continue while we transition to in-person gatherings. Our plan is to offer Preschool Life Groups and Kids Worship during Tier 2.

When will Life Groups and other church events resume in person?

We are working to offer alternative time and space options for Life Groups to be able to meet on campus when we begin Tier 1. We will resume on-campus Sunday morning Life Groups during Tier 3. We also encourage groups to continue meeting online if that format works best for your group at this time. Make sure to stay connected with your Life Group leader to stay up to date on when your group may be able to gather. Other church events and activities will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
